Students and working professionals seeking flexible postgraduate education in emerging technology fields will soon have access to a wider range of online programmes, as new admissions open for advanced degrees in artificial intelligence, cyber security, sustainability and data analytics.
The programmes are being offered by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur through its Office of Outreach Activities as part of the second admission cycle of its online postgraduate offerings. Classes are scheduled to begin in September 2026, with applications expected to open shortly. The upcoming admission cycle will offer nine online postgraduate programmes spanning engineering, technology, sustainability and analytics, designed to meet evolving industry demand while enabling learners to study alongside professional commitments.
The programmes include online MTech courses in Wireless Networks and Machine Learning, RF Engineering, Microelectronics and VLSI, Construction Engineering and Project Management, Sustainable Energy Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Smart Grid. In addition, an MSc in Economics and Data Analytics and a postgraduate diploma in Cyber Security will also be offered.
The courses are structured for flexibility, with MTech and MSc programmes designed to be completed within two to four years, and the postgraduate diploma within one to two years. The format aims to support both working professionals and fresh graduates seeking advanced qualifications without relocating.
Eligibility criteria include a minimum of 55 per cent marks or 5.5 CPI in the qualifying degree. Admissions will be based on national-level entrance examinations such as GATE or JAM, department-specific requirements, or an online entrance test. Candidates with five or more years of relevant professional experience, as well as those nominated by government or defence organisations, may be exempt from the entrance test requirement.
