Alibaba Group has developed an AI video generation model called HappyHorse 1.0, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Thursday.
HappyHorse 1.0 has ranked first since its launch on third-party site Artificial Analysis’ text-to-video conversion leaderboard, WSJ reported.
A spokesperson for Token Hub, Alibaba’s newly established AI-focused organisation, said, "HappyHorse is currently in internal beta testing and we plan to release an API in the near future."
Alibaba’s move comes as Chinese internet companies are accelerating their push into the AI video market, including TikTok owner ByteDance launching its video generation model Seedance 2.0 earlier this year.
Chinese AI video models are dominating the top ranks on the Artificial Analysis leaderboard after OpenAI shut down the Sora video platform app and related features last month as part of a strategic shift, WSJ reported.
Alibaba is investing in AI video startups alongside developing its own models. It has recently invested in China’s ShengShu Technology, which owns the popular video generation model Vidu.
