Boston, MA — May 12, 2026 — Descrybe today launched the Descrybe Legal Engine for Claude, a connector that brings 300 million structured U.S. primary law records and the full Descrybe Legal Research Toolkit directly into Claude. The integration covers the core stages of legal research: classifying a legal question, searching case law by concept or exact language, searching statutes and regulations, surfacing how cases have been treated by later courts through its proprietary citator, verifying quoted language, and pulling source documents. Every step is grounded in primary law.
Claude is powerful on its own. But legal research needs more than a general answer. It needs reliable legal sources, organized research tools, and a guided way to work through the question. That is what the Descrybe Legal Engine adds to Claude, so grounded legal research and reasoning can happen right where users already work.

Anthropic’s debut of Claude for the legal industry introduces a curated ecosystem of purpose-built legal AI tools available through the Claude platform. Descrybe joins the launch alongside the Justice Technology Association (JTA), supporting a shared commitment to making serious legal AI more affordable and available — not just powerful for those who can already afford it.
The launch also connects directly to Descrybe’s published benchmark research. Earlier this year, Descrybe released Beyond Confidently Wrong, a white paper documenting a controlled study of 200 multistate bar exam questions run across DescrybeLM, ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini. The findings pointed to a clear conclusion: Even the most capable AI models perform best on legal questions when they are grounded in verified, structured primary law.
Speaking on a recent Claude for the legal industry webinar, Mark Pike framed the same point: Lawyers should be “ensuring that you’re using tools and connectors to ground these AI systems in real case law or your playbooks.”

The Descrybe Legal Engine is available as a standalone subscription at $25 per month with no per-query charges. It is included for full Descrybe platform subscribers at $50 per month, which adds the Legal Research Toolkit and advanced workflow capabilities such as brief review, citation analysis, and advanced legal reasoning.
