Bengaluru: Sona College of Technology in Salem has announced admissions to its four-year B.E. and B.Tech programmes in Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Data Science for the upcoming academic year.
The institution has invited applications from meritorious students who have completed Class XII in the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics stream and are interested in emerging technologies and computing-related disciplines.
According to the college administration, the NBA-accredited programmes are structured to provide students with strong fundamentals in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Science, along with hands-on exposure to programming, robotics, basic sciences and soft skills training.
Students enrolling in the programmes will also have access to interdisciplinary electives, including Japanese language studies, while the curriculum includes a 20-week immersive industry internship aimed at providing real-time industrial exposure and practical training.
Officials stated that during the 2025–26 academic year, students with competitive TNEA scores secured admission into these programmes, reflecting increasing demand for future-ready engineering specialisations.
The institution highlighted its recent academic achievements, including securing the No.1 rank in India in faculty performance during the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) examinations conducted between July and December 2025. The college reportedly outperformed more than 7,000 institutions across the country.
Sona College said its focus on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science and Cybersecurity has helped students remain globally competitive and industry-ready. The institution currently holds NAAC A++ accreditation with a CGPA of 3.65 and was placed in the 151–200 band among engineering colleges in India in the NIRF Rankings 2025.
The college also noted its strong placement record and industry collaborations. It has received the AICTE-CII Best Industry Linked Institution award for seven consecutive years, recognising its efforts in integrating industry expectations with classroom education.
Spread across a 35-acre Wi-Fi-enabled campus in Salem, the autonomous institution affiliated with Anna University houses 36 research and development centres and has developed an innovation ecosystem that has resulted in over 50 patents and multiple student-led research initiatives.
Apart from Computer Science-related programmes, the college also offers engineering courses in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Biomedical Engineering, Mechatronics and Fashion Technology.
The institution’s Foreign Language Training Centre offers Japanese, Korean, German and French language training, helping students explore international career opportunities. From the 2025–26 batch, 15 students reportedly secured placements in Japanese companies, taking the total number of Sona graduates employed in Japan to more than 114.
The college further highlighted the achievements of its student teams in national-level hackathons during 2025–26. Students won Google’s “Fund My Crazy” Award carrying a ₹25 lakh prize, secured the ₹1.5 lakh Capgemini Engineering Brand Quest Student Champion Award among 2.5 lakh participants, and won the Gold Cup at the Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2026 for developing an AI-powered industrial PLC programming assistant.
