Artificial Intelligence company Anthropic has become the world’s most valuable AI startup after raising a staggering $65 billion in its latest Series H funding round. The latest investment values the company at around $965 billion, pushing it ahead of its rival AI company, i.e., OpenAI, which was valued at $852 billion earlier this year. The funding round was led by major investors including Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital. Many big global investors joined the round, such as General Catalyst, Blackstone, Fidelity Management & Research Company, DST Global, and Insight Partners.
The AI company has also secured an investment package of $15 billion in previously committed funding from hyperscalers, including a $5 billion investment from Amazon as well. According to the company, the fresh capital will be used to improve AI safety research, increase computing power, and expand products and partnerships connected to its AI assistant Claude.
Interestingly, this comes just months after Anthropic raised another $30 billion in Series G funding in February at a $380 billion valuation. The company’s rise has been one of the fastest in the global AI industry.
Claude AI Adoption Sees Massive Growth Worldwide
The company stated that global businesses are increasingly using Claude AI in their everyday operations. According to the company, its annualised revenue recently crossed $47 billion as the enterprise adoption continues to surge across industries. The Chief Financial Officer of Anthropic, Krishna Rao, stated that Claude has become an essential AI tool for companies across the world.
“Claude is increasingly indispensable to our growing global community of customers,” Rao said. “This funding will help us serve the historic demand we are experiencing, stay at the research frontier, and bring Claude to more of the places where work happens,” he added.
Anthropic Launches Claude Opus 4.8
The company is also actively working on its new updates, and it has recently upgraded the Claude Opus to Claude Opus 4.8 and introduced faster performance options for users on claude.ai. The latest update has allowed users to control how much efforts does it puts into any specific tasks. The company also added a new “dynamic workflows” feature in Claude Code that allowed the system to solve much larger and more complex problems.
The company also claimed that the fast mode of Opus 4.8 now works 2.5 times faster and costs three times less than the earlier versions.
Anthropic Expands Compute Power With Amazon, Google and SpaceX Deals
As demand for AI continues to grow, Anthropic has also signed some major infrastructure agreements that will help to increase its computing capacity. The company confirmed partnerships with Amazon for up to five gigawatts of new computing capacity. It also signed agreements with Google and Broadcom for next-generation TPU infrastructure.
In another major move, the company has partnered with SpaceX to access GPU computing power through Colossus 1 and Colossus 2 systems. These partnerships are expected to help Anthropic handle the exploding demand for Claude AI services globally.
General Catalyst CEO Hemant Taneja called the investment the “largest single investment” in the history of his firm. “We first invested because of the tech and the soul,” Taneja said while praising Anthropic’s rapid growth into one of the world’s most important technology companies.
New Claude Models Aim to Make AI Safer and Smarter
Anthropic also recently released its latest AI models, which include Claude Opus 4.8 and Claude Mythos Preview, a cybersecurity-focused AI system currently available to select companies. The company claims that Opus 4.8 is significantly better at identifying uncertainty in its own responses and is less likely to make unsupported claims.
Internal testing reportedly showed that the new model is four times less likely than its predecessor to ignore flaws in written code. Anthropic also said the model performed strongly in financial analysis, reasoning, and advanced coding benchmarks compared to competitors. Meanwhile, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei recently joked that the company’s rapid growth may actually be “too hard to handle.”
While speaking at a developer conference in San Francisco, Amodei revealed that Anthropic experienced around 80 times year-over-year growth in revenue and usage during the first quarter of 2026. He also joked that he would have preferred “just 10x growth” because the current pace has pushed the company’s computing infrastructure far beyond what was originally planned.
With both Anthropic and OpenAI reportedly preparing for IPOs later this year, the AI battle is entering a completely new phase as companies race to dominate the future of artificial intelligence.
