Gurugram-based healthtech startup MediElaj has raised approximately $100,000 in a pre-seed funding round from friends and family as it looks to expand its AI-driven healthcare platform and bring affordable diagnostic services closer to underserved communities.
Alongside the external funding, the company’s founders have invested heavily in the business, contributing nearly $500,000 of their own capital to build the technology, healthcare ecosystem, kiosk infrastructure, and operational framework required to scale the venture.
The fresh funding will support the next phase of product development, including enhancements to the company’s healthcare application, smart diagnostic kiosks, and AI-powered diagnostic capabilities. The startup also plans to invest in healthcare device integration, sensor technologies, cloud infrastructure, and software development.
In addition, the capital will help prepare the company for pilot deployments while strengthening its research and operational foundation for future expansion.
MediElaj was launched by Debjit Patra and Umesh Khatri in June 2023 through their healthtech venture MedPredict. The company is focused on making preventive healthcare and early disease detection more accessible through artificial intelligence and smart diagnostic technologies.
Its flagship platform combines a mobile healthcare application with intelligent diagnostic kiosks designed to deliver healthcare services directly to communities that often lack access to quality medical facilities.
The startup’s model addresses a major challenge in healthcare delivery, particularly in smaller towns and rural regions where access to specialists and advanced diagnostic infrastructure remains limited. By bringing healthcare services closer to people, MediElaj aims to reduce the need for patients to travel long distances to urban centers for routine health assessments.
The company’s smart kiosks are equipped with AI-assisted screening capabilities, non-invasive diagnostic tools, digital health record management, and conversational healthcare guidance. These features enable users to receive health assessments and preliminary support through a technology-enabled experience.
MediElaj believes that combining artificial intelligence with community-based healthcare delivery can improve early diagnosis rates and encourage preventive healthcare practices, especially among populations that traditionally face barriers to medical access.
Looking ahead, the startup is preparing for a larger scale-up phase. It plans to establish manufacturing capabilities that will support mass production of its diagnostic kiosks and related healthcare infrastructure. The company is also working on building a nationwide deployment network to expand its reach across India.
A significant portion of its future efforts will focus on strengthening AI capabilities, improving cybersecurity infrastructure, and developing partnerships that can help create a broader healthcare ecosystem.
