The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) has outlined updates to its AI policies, eight months after slamming a supplier for unauthorised use.
Former secretary Natalie James revealed in estimates last year that an IT assurance report provided by Deloitte contained AI-generated references to non-existent research and legal precedents.
DEWR received a $440,000 refund for the report.
Departmental officials have told Senate estimates that DEWR is monitoring and documenting AI use in and out of the department more closely.
